Mycestro – The Tiny New Mouse That Fits On Your Finger

Nick Mastandrea, Founder, Chief Technology Officer and Director of Mycestro is working on his patent-pending technology via a Kickstarter Campaign for a tiny 3D mouse that you wear on your finger.

On Kickstarter’s website, Mastandrea tells his story of the birth of the device that took place while on a flight home from a Trade Show in Denver. As he observed a man struggling to use his laptop in the cramped space with a traditional mouse, he envisioned a device that would allow you to control your PC with your fingertips.

How it works

The small device, which is about the size of a wireless earpiece, weighs nearly nothing and attaches to your pointer finger to be activated by your thumb. The 3D mouse has the ability to track your hand movements in 3 dimensional space, meaning you can move your cursor by moving your hand in the desired direction.

Activate the cursor movement by touching anywhere on touch sensitive panel. Next, move your hand to bring the cursor to the desired location, then make your selection by releasing the touch panel and tapping on the left, middle or right button section.

Features

The device has a range of up to 30 feet, though its unlikely that you would need to be that far from your computer, or that you could even see it from that distance. Mycestro has an internal battery that is chargeable via USB and has an estimated battery life of 8 hours. It also comes with 2 replaceable clip sizes to fit different finger sizes.

Compatibility

The wireless mouse uses Bluetooth 4.0 low energy protocol, making it compatible with many Bluetooth Smart devices such as iPad®3 and newer iPad Mini, iPod Touch Gen5, Apple® MacBook® Air, Mac® mini and MacBook Pro, iPhone® 4S and newer, and any PC with a compatible BLE dongle. The plan is to have the device also compatible with Android by the end of the year.
