How To Block Ads In Chrome Without Any Extension

While browsing the internet, most people find one thing intruding or interrupting them. These are ads. While most ads may seem harmless and non-interrupting, some of them may affect your overall experience with the web page. Those might be popup ads, or even worse, they might take you to another page where there are things you do not want to see.

Few ads are so harmful they might even redirect you to a download and then install some malware or spyware on your computer. The only way to avoid all this is to block these ads in your browser.

Of course, there are multiple extensions to serve you of this purpose like Adblock Plus or Adgaurd, but most of these extensions keep running as background processes in your browser while you surf the web. This may either affect the performance of your browser or even deplete your battery real quick.

You can use browsers like Opera or UC Browser which comes with a built-in ad blocking feature, but these browsers lack the kind of functionality and performance Google Chrome Browser provides and as it comes pre-installed in almost all smartphones these days, synchronizing your data should also be easier if you use Chrome.

However, Unfortunately, Chrome does not have the built-in ad blocking feature yet, and even though it is rumored that Chrome may soon get this option, it is far into the future.

So, What is the way to both block the intrusive ads and to preserve the performance at the same time?

There is a trick where you could add a script file to the Chrome directory in your Computer, and it could block the ads in your Chrome browser without installing any extensions.

Here is how to do it.

Step 1:

Open the run program on your PC from the start menu and then paste this location and press enter C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Step 2:

Right click on the hosts file in the window and then select properties. In the properties windows, go to the security tab and then select edit.

Step 3:

From the Edit window, select the user’s option and then click on allow full control and finally hit apply and ok to save the settings.

Step 4:

Now go back to the host file and then double click it and select Notepad from the list to open it.

Step 5:

Now go to this link and copy all the lines of code given there http://ift.tt/2tN1J30

This is the essential part as it contains the script to block the ads in your browser.

Once you have copied the lines from the link, just go back to the notepad and then paste these lines after the last line in the file.

Step 6:

That is all. Just save the file and then restart your Chrome browser if you have it open.

Your ads will be blocked now without any extensions installed, and the process was simple isn’t it?
