LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet Boasts 1920×1200 Display

LG has officially unveiled one of its most anticipated products, the G Pad 8.3 tablet, believed to be the first device of its size to feature a full HD display.

The LG G Pad 8.3 was unveiled just a few days before the IFA 2013 in Berlin, which is the European equivalent of the CES. The South Korean tech giant will officially debut the new tablet at IFA this week, but a release date is not yet available.

With an 8.3 inch display, this pocket-sized tablet is very comfortable to use and carry around, weighing only 11.92 oz (338 grams), which is roughly the weight of a newspaper, according to the manufacturers. It is 0.33 inch thick, just slightly thicker than the Galaxy Note 8.0 or the iPad mini. It will be available in both black and white.

But its most attractive feature is undeniably its killer resolution. The G Pad 8.3 has an impressive 1920×1200 WUXGA resolution and packs 273 pixels per inch. The Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array is presented as offering even higher resolution than the standard full HD or 1920×1080.

The new LG tablet will be powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean but will also sport some of the South Korean company’s unique software features, such as KnockOn (turning the display off or on by tapping twice), QSlide (running three apps simultaneously in the same window) or Slide Aside (sliding apps off screen using 3 fingers).

The device runs with a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 600 processor from Qualcomm, it has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB memory, and is powered by a 4,600 mAh battery. It is also equipped with two cameras: a 5.0 megapixel camera in the rear and a 1.3 megapixel one in the front.

No pricing details have been made available yet, but LG said the pocket-sized G Pad 8.3 will be launched worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2013. More information will most likely emerge at the IFA this week.

The G Pad 8.3 is the first tablet from LG in the last year. According to the company, the new device will complement the recent G2 smartphone, which competes against Samsung’s Galaxy S4. What do you think of the new LG tablet? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
