Introducing the new Google+

If you head over to Google+ today, you’ll see that things look a little different.

Since we last posted, we’ve spent a lot of time listening to what people using Google+ had to say. There were two features they kept coming back to: Communities, which now average 1.2 million new joins per day, and Collections, which launched just five months ago and is growing even faster. Whether it’s the Nonfiction Addiction Community, where people can be found discussing the best in Crime or Travel storytelling, or the Watch Project Collection, where more than 40,000 people are following an antique watch hobbyist, these are the places on Google+ where people around the world are spending their time discovering and sharing things they love.

And so we’ve reimagined Google+ to help them do that. Today, we’re starting to introduce a fully redesigned Google+ that puts Communities and Collections front and center. Now focused around interests, the new Google+ is much simpler. And it’s more mobile-friendly—we’ve rebuilt it across web, Android and iOS so that you’ll have a fast and consistent experience whether you are on a big screen or small one. You’ll need to opt-in to this new version of Google+ on the web to see the changes—check out our Google+ post for more on how to give it a try.

Creating great products that solve real needs and make life easier for people is something Google is always striving for. Your feedback got us this far—as we continue to refine Google+, we’d love to keep hearing from you. How to Use Gmail to create cards in Trello?

Trello is a project management tool that enables collaboration of your workspace . Trello can make your work easy by creating your own team and sharing tasks in the form of cards with adding links and comments on the go. Trello is sure to make your work very productive. As soon as you receive your daily dose of work in your Gmail, you update it in your Trello board. What if there was a direct mechanism of updating your Trello board itself from your Gmail without the need of going and creating a card?

It is possible to create cards in Trello just by writing or forwarding an email to Trello from your Gmail account. You can update your daily task from Gmail itself and share it directly with your team in Trello.

 

How to create cards in Trello with Gmail

Follow these steps to create cards in Trello from Gmail-

• Log in to your Trello and select the board in which you want to email cards.
• Open the menu in the right side bar and select “Email-to-board settings”.                                                
• Trello will generate an email address for the particular board. Use this email ID to send or forward mails to create cards.
• You can select the list and position in which the cards will appear in your board.                                    
• You can even email yourself the email ID generated to send mails.

When you create a card in Trello using this method the ‘Subject’ of your email becomes the ‘Card Tittle’, the body of the email becomes the ‘Card Description’ and the Attachments of the mail will be attached to the cards.

To create labels, add in the subject #labelname, #labelcolour   or #labelnumber. Use underscores between words if your label contains two or more words. To add members, type @username in the subject. If you add other members Email address in “to” or “CC”, they will be added as members. Each card has got its own email ID. Send mails to it to add as ‘comments’ in the card.

GMail to Trello is free integration tool for directly creating Trello cards within Gmail. Once you install the extension from Chrome store, it will add an “Add Card” button on top of the mail. Click there and a window will open showing your boards and the lists in which you want to create the card. Hit “Add to Trello Card” and your card is created in no time.

2. Zapier

Zapier is an online tool to connect the apps you use. Use your Gmail and Trello account to create a zap. You can quickly create cards using the mails received in Gmail directly to your preferred board. You need to select a ‘Trigger’ and select the resulting ‘Action’. For example, if you set the trigger to “New starred email” and the action to “Create a new card”, then as soon as you star a email, the zap will generate a new card in Trello. Sign-Up and Zapier will automatically sync your accounts and let you connect your workspace.

Using Trello with Gmail will make your work easier, faster and more productive than before. We recommend you to use the proper way to create cards by sending emails to the email ID generated for your board because it is better not to consider any third party extension. If you are working with private data, then it is better to use official way as third party tools can sneak in and read your data. Facial Recognition Software And Historic Sleuthing

Earlier this year, a great wrong was righted and a chapter of history was closed when King Richard III’s remains were finally discovered, after his death in battle more than five hundred years ago. But while news headlines of the discovery made it seem as though he was found by happenstance under a parking lot, there was actually an organization that worked at length to discover his once-current resting place. Part of the search involved keeping track of living descendants so that positive DNA matches could be made; one distant relation, Michael Ibsen, provided the evidence needed to verify that the skeletal remains were those of the king.

While DNA is a recognized forensic with noted ratios for accuracy, technology has just been used to solve another historical mystery. This one, however, is far less exact, but not because of any failing on the part of the tech.

The descendants of Victorian-era author Elizabeth Gaskell have possessed a small framed silhouette believed to be her likeness, but there was no way to verify it until researchers from the University of Manchester decided to try facial recognition software.

This was obviously a complicated endeavor due to a number of factors, like the size comparison between the silhouette and the miniature portrait, although one thing working in the researchers’ favor was the fact that the silhouette itself had never changed hands outside of Gaskell’s own family. Hindering their hope of accurate findings was the fact that they had only one other basis for comparison, a verified but later-in-life portrait of the author. The software had to not only correct for the face-view versus profile view between the two images, it also had to account for any age progression between the silhouette and the portrait. Finally, human error had to be taken into account, as these two images were both created by two separate individuals.

Fortunately, technicians were able to conclude that the silhouette is the same person represented in the portrait; the image will now be included in a large exhibit about the author and her works.

Get ahead this Thanksgiving with Google Maps

It’s that time of year again. Next week, tens of millions of us will hit the roads, consume millions of pounds of turkey, and then spend billions on Black Friday deals. Google Maps looked at Thanksgiving trends from the last three years to uncover the most useful information to make your holiday plans go a little bit easier. Whether you’re traveling, doing some last-minute grocery shopping, or Black Friday deal-dashing, here’s our day-by-day guide to braving the holiday crowds.

Tuesday: No travel day leading up to the holiday is going to be a breeze, but if you can, start driving Tuesday rather than Wednesday. Yes, it’s still the second-worst travel day of the week, but according to Google Maps searches, for the last three years Wednesday has been the worst travel day—with the exceptions of Boston (Tuesday), and Honolulu, Providence and San Francisco (all Saturday).

Wednesday: Americans are pretty predictable when it comes to the holidays: for the third year in a row, “ham shop” was the #1 trending destination search on Google Maps the day before Thanksgiving. Whether you’re running out to a ham shop, pie shop (#2), or liquor store (#3), make sure you don’t head all the way there just to find it closed. This year Google Maps and Google Search have added holiday hours, so when you search for a business, you’ll see its updated holiday schedule.

Thanksgiving Day: Maybe folks were put off by the trauma of last year’s burnt turkey? Nationwide, “buffet restaurants” were the #1 trending Google Maps term on Thanksgiving Day. But locally, folks were heading in other directions. In Houston, “doughnut shops” were trending on Thanksgiving. It was “bars” in Chicago— maybe people needed a break from their families. And Miami residents were interested in looking their holiday best—”beauty salons” were among the trending searches by the South Beach crowd.

Black Friday: The top Black Friday Google Maps trends nationwide were predictably of the “electronics store” and “outlet mall” variety—with “Christmas tree farms” not far behind as people looked ahead. Digging into local trends, however, things get more surprising. New Yorkers were on the hunt for tattoo shops, among other things, Angelenos for hookah bars, and people in Detroit spent their Black Friday on the lookout for hamburgers. Whether you’re in the market for a Christmas tree tat or shopping deals, here’s a tip: use the Explore feature on Google Maps to discover the stores, restaurants and local entertainment around you.

The weekend: Traffic patterns show that you’re better off driving home from a long weekend on Sunday rather than Saturday—traffic can be up to 40% worse on Saturday. And Google Maps will be with you all the way home, helping you check out gas prices and add detours to your route, without having to exit out of navigation.
