Android Oreo Bug Results in Data Being Used Even When You Are Connected to Wi-Fi
The Android Oreo OS update has been the talk of the town. With the OTA update having begun for the Google Pixel users last week, a very small number of users are on this OS at the moment. However, a number of bugs have already emerged. The most recent of which is resulting in mobile data being consumed even when you are connected to Wi-Fi.
This Android Oreo bug ignores your Wi-Fi connection and uses mobile data causing the users inconvenience. Reportedly, Google knows about this issue and is working on a fix. While the company hasn’t specified any deadlines we expect it to be fixed once the September 2017 Android Security Patch rolls out.
How to Stay Safe from this Android Oreo Bug
For those users who wish to protect their data, we recommend them to turn off their data connection when connected to a Wi-Fi network. This is the only way to stay safe from this Android Oreo bug till Google fixes the issue. Mobile data can be turned off by heading over to settings > network and internet > data usage > mobile data. Next to mobile data, there’s a toggle that can be turned off.
Of Beta and Bugs:
This is one of the reasons why most users do not prefer to upgrade their Operating System as soon as an update comes out. The reason this Android Oreo bug exists is because the OS is fresh out of Beta and there are chances that a number of bugs might have made it to the stable version before Google could identify them. Now that the OS is in mass circulation users begin to report these problems and Google begins to resolve the bugs.
Before you update to a new Android OS, it is always advisable to take a backup of your data, just in case something goes wrong. An Android Oreo bug that causes Mobile Data to override Wi-Fi is perhaps less harmful than some other bug which might result in the loss of data! Stay smart, stay safe. Comment below and let us know if you are on Android Oreo and you too, are facing this bug!
