Leaked Images Show Google’s Baywolf Headphones with Google Assistant

Google’s hardware expansion began last year with the Pixel smartphones. Last October, Google introduced the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, Google Home, Google Daydream and Google Wi-Fi. This year Google intends to release headphones too! The first images of Baywolf Headphones, which is the code-name for these gen-next Google headphones have leaked.

These Google headphones would feature Google Assistant built-in in them.  A teardown of the Google Assistant app for the iOS gives us our first look at these headphones. The image has been titled baywolf-oobe-image.png. Baywolf is likely the name for these over-the-ear Google headphones. These images come via 9to5Google.

The image spotted in the iOS app’s code.

To clear things up, for now it seems that the Baywolf Headphones are the codename for the Google ‘Bisto’ headphone devices. These headphones feature three buttons on the earcup on one side and a single button on the other side. The three buttons are most likely to be that of increase volume, play/pause and decrease volume. The lone button on the other side is most likely the one that would trigger the Google Assistant.

In addition to this image, another set of images have also been spotted which give us an insight into the logo for the headphones along with the Google Assistant.

The logo for the headphones and another image showing the headphones with the assistant.

The image above gives us a hint at what these Baywolf headphones would be capable of doing. The image shows music and messages, as well as the assistant icon.

Interestingly, some Reddit users have spotted that the design and button layout of these Baywolf headphones look quite similar to the Bose QC35 headphones which also come with a button on the left and three buttons on the right cup.

Could the Bose QC35 be the Baywolf headphones?

There have been a number of Bose headphones which come with these three buttons to control the volume and the playback but never before have we seen this additional button which is on the left. If these theories are to be believed Bose and Google are likely to partner up for Baywolf headphones. Stay tuned with us for more details as Google holds their 2017 hardware event on the 5th of October.

Improve Your Chrome Multitasking Game Using This Extension

While I can never keep more than five tabs open at a time due to a compulsive behaviour I’ve developed, many people I know can’t work any other way. Many users tend to keep Chrome tabs open in the double digits but struggle to click the right tab at times. The only real way to identify the tab from each other is to hover near it to indicate a small display prompt with the title.

Although it takes a lot of practice to keep the tabs in your spatial memory, a simple Chrome extension can solve the issue of switching between the right tabs easily.

Switch Between 50+ Tabs Using Go to Tab Extension

It can be overwhelming to navigate between so many tabs

Go to Tab is a lightweight Chrome extension that seeks to act as spotlight search for Google Chrome. Using the extension is as simple as pressing the default hotkey Control (Command on Mac) + K to toggle between the extension’s search window.

Pressing the icon or hotkey toggles a pop-up window

After the pop-up window shows itself, search & choose from a list of tabs using the directional keys and hit enter.

Go to Tab in action

Pressing the X button next to the tabs will close it down. If multiple windows are open, the extension also does a good job of listing those too.

Drawbacks

Since the extension itself is new, it does have a few bugs like closing the extension pop-up as soon as a single tab is closed. While it doesn’t aim to compete with launchers like QuickSilver & Alfred, it has the potential to be more just a tool for switching between tabs if the developer chooses to implement features like launching shortcuts & performing custom searches directly from the text box.

Likewise, features such as filters for sorting the tab list and the ability to set custom keyboard shortcuts would be welcome additions if implemented in the future.

Conclusion

Go to Tab proves itself to be a great tool to quickly switch between a long list of tabs with minimal effort even if it lacks a bit in the features department.
