3 Cool Android Alarm Clock Apps for Heavy Sleepers
The default Android alarm clock app works fine, but you must admit it’s rather limited in features. You get recurring alarms, a snooze button and get to choose your favorite ringtone—like we couldn’t do that 10 years back. If you are a heavy sleeper or just want a smarter alarm clock, then you must get a third-party alarm clock app.
Although, there are many alarm clock apps available in the market, but I am only going to introduce some interesting ones. These unique alarm clocks will wake you up using smart techniques and are especially good for heavy sleepers. Without further ado, let’s get straight to finding the right alarm clock app for you.
1. Alarmy (Sleep If U Can)
Starting with my favorite Android alarm clock app. Alarmy is the perfect alarm clock for heavy sleepers. Although it has multiple ways to force you out of the bed, but you’ll mainly want it for its picture dismiss mode. To turn off the alarm, you’ll have to take a picture of a preselected place in your home—such as the bathroom sink or your coffee maker.

You just need to select a place that is far enough from your bed and Alarmy will annoy you enough to get out of the bed and take the picture (unless you pull out the phone battery). Other than that, it also has math solving and phone shaking alarm dismiss mode if you want something different. And of course, it has all the other required alarm clock features, including recurring alarms, custom tones, and built-in tones.

2. Turbo Alarm
Turbo Alarm packs some handy features with interesting ways to dismiss the alarm. The app lets you dismiss the alarm by turning on the bed room light, which will force you to get out of the bed (not for smart-light users). Other dismiss methods include phone shaking, captcha, drawing, slider, and long press. It may not be very annoying, but if you want multiple ways to dismiss the alarm, then it has enough options.

Interestingly, Turbo Alarm can also go-off if it notices you are still at home while you should be out—perfect for a backup alarm. The app is also highly customizable with features like custom tones, incremental alarm volume, vibration patterns, control snooze limits, multiple alarms, and more. Not to mention, it can also work as a night clock with a bunch of beautiful themes.

3. AMdroid Smart Alarm Clock
An astonishingly smart alarm clock that can do wonders for heavy sleepers. Just like other alarm clock apps, it also comes with a bunch of interesting alarm dismiss methods, including puzzles, captcha, math problems, NFC, Wifi, and barcode scanner. However, its smart algorithms are what makes it really interesting.
You can set a soft pre-alarm that will take you out of heavy sleep so the main alarm could gently wake you up without causing sleepiness. You can also configure locations and the alarm will only go off when you are in that particular place. Best of all, you can also integrate your calendar to get automatic smart alarms for your events.

Furthermore, AMdroid also works as a sleep tracker to track sleep patterns and how many times you snooze the alarm. It will even notify you when it’s time to go to the bed.
Price: Free and ad supported. Pay $1.49 to remove ads.
Ending thoughts
I believe Alarmy is great for heavy sleepers as it forces you to complete a rather difficult task. It also does an accurate job of identifying the alarm dismiss place, so don’t worry about ending up photoshooting your bathroom sink from every angle in the morning. However, if the smart features of AMdroid are useful to you, then it’s a great pick as well.
