How To Add Custom Vibration Pattern To Android Contacts

Everyone knows you can set custom ringtones and profile images to your contacts but did you know you can also set a custom vibration pattern as well?  With custom vibrations, you can easily tell who’s calling without looking at the phone, or even when the phone is on vibrate mode.

In this post, I will show you how to add a custom vibration pattern to Android contacts.

Note: We will be using a third-party app for this purpose because most of the android phones don’t support custom vibration for contacts.

Add custom vibrations to contacts with Good Vibrations

We will be using the Good Vibrations app to add the custom vibrations. It’s an easy to use app that allows you to add preset vibration patterns to contacts or even create your own vibration patterns. Let’s see how to use it:

Download and Install the Good Vibrations app from Google Play Store.

First, you need to give notification access to Good Vibrations to make it work. When you run the app for the first time, it will ask you to activate a notification listener. Click on “Activate Good Vibrations” and enable the “Good Vibrations Notification Listener” option on the next screen.

Grant notification access

To add a custom vibration, click on the “Add” button at the bottom-right corner and select “Add Call Actions” from it.

A Call Menu will open, tap on the “Pattern” button and you will have a complete list of present vibrations to choose from. Choose any vibration pattern and hit “OK” and it will be added.

Add custom vibration for calls

After this is done, hit the “Add” button and you will have to choose an option from the two, either a private number or to pick any contact from your contact list.

I am going to pick from my contact list. You just need to select the contact you want to add to this vibration pattern and it will be added. More than one contact can also be added to this custom vibration.

Select contact

You can always test whether everything is working perfectly or not. There is a “Test” button at the top to test your vibration pattern. You can tick “Screen on/off” as well as “In Call” to test how the vibration is working when your screen is on or off, or during a call.

Test the vibration

So this is it, a custom vibration pattern will be added to your Android contact(s). Whenever you’ll receive a call from them, the selected vibration pattern will be played.

Create your own vibration pattern

Good Vibrations also lets you create your own vibration pattern for super customizability. Let’s see how you can create your own custom vibration.

Open the side menu by hitting those three lines at the top left corner and select “Tap your pattern”. A screen will open with a “Tap” icon. When you will tap the screen, it will convert your tap into vibration and when you set your finger off, a pause is created. By this, you can create your own custom pattern.

If you want to test the vibration, there’s a test button at the top of the navigation bar. There’s a reset button too that can reset your pattern if you don’t like your creation. When you think you got the perfect vibration pattern, you can click on the check icon and a new pattern will be added to the library. Once set, you can select a name for your vibration, choose the number of times the vibration should repeat, and the pause period between the repeats. Now, hit the “save icon” at the top right corner and the pattern will be saved.

Create custom vibration

You can always add this newly created vibration to any of your saved vibration patterns.

Conclusion

Adding custom vibrations is definitely a useful way to be notified about who’s calling without looking at the screen. This is especially useful when you can’t turn on the phone ring, like during an office meeting. If you have any questions, let us know in the comments below.
