How can I edit a PowerPoint presentation which automatically opens as a presentation?

http://ift.tt/ZMDsXC cannot edit a powerpoint since it opens automatically as a presentation. When I try to modify the properties by unchecking the read only box, I am denied this option; a message appears saying administrator only. How can I open the powerpoint to enable edits? Many thanks, Paul
