Tech News Stop - Sharing by Wasim Akhtar: Update

Over the last few weeks, you would have noticed that there was no new posts or even any social media activity from Gtricks. Regular readers of Gtricks have had experienced this in past and I am truly sorry for my inability to cope up with the situation.

Back in 2008, when I started Gtricks, I never thought of making this far. However, the love and support I got from the readers made me continue the blog till now. And I plan to keep running it but few external factors are impacting the regular operations –

1) I recently got married and the priorities of life have changed.

2) In due course, my day time job responsibilities have increased. After a long day of mentally tiring work, it’s difficult to research on good articles.

3) The competitive landscape has exploded. There are numerous tech blogs with armies of editors who can produce tens of articles in a day. A single-person blog easily gets lost in the crown.

4) Shubham who has been helping me produce content till now have to leave for personal reasons.

Thus, Gtricks and the community is suffering due to long periods of inactivity. A good solution is have a dedicated caretaker, someone who can regularly research and publish useful articles, actively respond to mails, spread information on social media and promote the community.

To hire such dedicated resource and to keep lights running, we will require funds, around $800 per month. Unfortunately, with the increased usage of ad-blocking plugins from users and high competition from other blogs, Gtricks does not earn much. I am ready to shelf 50% from my own pocket and the community can contribute other 50%.

I am opening up a Patreon campaign, where community can donate small sums ($1, $5 or $10) monthly to reach the goal of $400.
