Google Feed Update Comes to India: Smarter, Contextual, Social!

In July, Google re-branded Google Now as Google Feed. Back when it was originally introduced, this section was the ‘information center’ for your phone, where you would get updates from frequently visited websites, stock updates, travel schedules, sports scores and much more.

The new and updated ‘Google Feed’ gives you more of a ‘social network’ sort of a feel. No, it doesn’t really show you information from your friends and family, but it shows you updates in a and top stories from your Google interactions as well as based on your location. Interestingly, Google has announced that the Google Feed will be available in English, as well as Hindi!

That aside, this new Google Feed offers the users with a refreshed experience as this is the place you can now come to when you have nothing on your mind. The Google Feed now introduces a smarter way to do things. The feed shows you latest trends on Google as well as things that are trending in your area, as well as the world. Basically, the feed will not just be limited to your interaction with Google but also to the place you are at.

That ‘Social Media’ Feel:

To give you a more social media-esque feel – the Google Feed will now feature the ability to ‘follow’ stories. Basically you can follow certain types of search results to get constant updates about them. If you follow a celebrity, let’s say Tom Hanks, you’d get to see top stories on him. Similarly you can follow your favorite organizations, sport teams, movies and more.

Moreover, the social media feel that you would get would be quite holistic. Google mentions that they are going to include all sorts of viewpoints (quite essential, in the era of alternative facts).

This update to the Google Feel is rolling out for the Google App for Android as well as the iOS, as well as to the Pixel launcher. Swiping to the Google Feed on your phone will now be a better experience than ever before!
