Google and Tata Trust Working Together To Uplift Women in Indian Villages

Google has been working closely along with the Government of India as well as various private firms to help get India online! The company’s ‘The Next Billion’ project is all about getting India online – especially focusing towards women from Indian villages. Google India has now joined hands with Tata Trust which will help women from Indian villages get online.

According to this partnership between Google and Tata, Google would be working with Foundation for Rural Entrepreneurship Development. Google is helping educate underprivileged women living in villages to make good use of the internet for basic work which can help their families. Once they are trained, Tata Trust will hire them as ‘Internet Saathis’.

These women, who face various socio-economic challenges train to become ‘internet saathis’ can later help others in their locality. This will help empower many women who would be able to express themselves better, as well as help empower other citizens. More details on this partnership between Google and Tata Trust are likely to emerge soon.
